This is our Family of Volunteers. The
rescued Bassets depend on them. Without these folks there would not be
a Las Vegas Basset Rescue. |

Kathleen Delaney, LVBR
Board Member and all around volunteer--is a true Basset Lover. We used
to say that if she fostered a Basset she ended up keeping it--but she
quickly got to her limit. She's learned to foster, then let
her temporary hound go to a new home when the time has come. Kathleen
has a special place in her heart for the "young and wild boy
bassets"--and she hopes to one day have enough property to have a "Boys
Town for Bassets"!

Sherman
and Heather Rockow have 3 Basset Hounds--"Hotrod", "Frisco" and
"Dozer". They adopted Dozer from LVBR and got him to walk again after he
was temporarily paralyzed following a difficult spinal/disk surgery.
Sherman and Heather have been a faithful foster family for many years now
and are excellent at training each foster dog that needs their devotion.
Sherman and Heather own
Las Vegas Trike Center
in Henderson (Street Ready 3-wheeled motorcycles--beautiful and awesome!). |

Melissa Pippin has been a
foster home for many Bassets passing through. She is a food slave to her
Basset "Pansy", whom she adopted from Lied Animal Shelter. Melissa makes
frequent visits to the dog park so that her latest foster dog can get
some much needed socialization before placement in a new home. Melissa
is an Elementary School Teacher. She enjoys sewing and craft
projects--when she doesn't have a Basset in her lap.

Raul Arteaga, DVM, owner of Sahara Animal Hospital, is the vet
who cares for all of our rescue dogs (many of our personal dogs go to
him, too!). We call him "Dr. A"--and hold him in the highest regard. Dr.
A and his wonderful staff do a great job caring for all of our rescues.
They are kind, knowledgeable and caring--and always have time for
us when we call to say "we just got another Basset and it needs to be
seen ASAP!" If you are in need of a vet please consider trying Sahara
Animal Hospital, 4301 W. Sahara Ave. Centrally located at the corner of
W. Sahara and Arville (in the strip shopping center that sports the
replica of the Statue of Liberty). Their telephone number is 876-2338
Open Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sunday. Thank you, Dr. A., for
all you do to help the homeless hounds.

Shari Aidukas is
one of our most loyal and cheerful volunteers. She coordinates and helps
at all of our events where we have the Bassets out to be seen and
heard. Shari and her husband, Chris, have 2 Basset Hounds--"George" and
"Woodrow". They adopted Woodrow from LVBR. George and Woodrow are two
spoiled Basset boys--nothing but the best for those hounds! That's the way
it should be. |
Cindy
Johnson is a non-stop foster mom for LVBR. She's shown here with former
foster hound, "Sherry". Cindy is a music teacher in the Clark County
School District, active with the Girl Scouts and mom to daughters
Kaitlin and McKenzie (who also help with the foster hounds, of course).
Busy as she is she still always has time for "one more" foster. This in
addition to her own 3 basset girls---Sassy, Jessie, and Olivia (Jessie
and Olivia were adopted from LVBR--former fosters who came but never
left!). |
Brian
Burrows is an enthusiastic volunteer for LVBR. He takes some of the
website photos for us, traveling to wherever the new rescue is in order
to get the snapshot. He helps transport rescues who need a trip to the
vet or will take a hound on a home visit to meet a potential adopter.
Brian is a realtor with Century 21 Money World in Las Vegas. Here he's
pictured with his mom, Terri Sloan (also a realtor). Brian has a
handsome basset of his own, named "Baxter". His mom--who taught Brian
the virtues of being owned by a basset--has a Basset lass named
"Ambassador". |
