A Plea for Foster Homes

We are always in need of more foster homes. Our little rescue cannot afford boarding fees. If you feel you can provide a temporary home to a basset who has just become homeless, please read below. The bassets are bathed and taken to the vet for a health check, vaccines, etc., before they come to your home. Some dogs may need to recover from surgery and/or beef up their skinny bodies before they are put up for adoption. Your loving attention can make a much needed difference in their lives.

Or maybe you already know and love bassets, but can’t adopt another permanently right now……for this and other reasons, fostering may be perfect for you and a big help to the needy Bassets. Basset Rescue has an ongoing need for temporary homes until the Basset moves on to their forever family. A comfy home is much easier on the dog (and less costly for rescue) than being placed in a kennel until an adoption takes place.

We provide the food and bowls, you provide the love and patience to help these dogs adjust to losing their former homes and loved ones. Fostering may mean a few days or a few weeks. If at anytime the situation is not working out for your family or the dog, we will take him or her back immediately.
