Max, aka Max Macaroni, is an older boy who sure doesn't know he's older! Approx. 9-10 years old, this guy is active and full of spunk. He's friendly with other dogs, loves to play, is curious and happy. He'd do best in an adult home or in one with older (12+) children. Max is a hardy eater and sure loves his snacks (what Basset doesn't?). He rides well in the car and will just curl up and sleep on longer trips. Chips is a 6 month old Basset/Beagle mix, who is full of puppy playfulness. Chips needs a home that has dog experience because he does have a strong personality. He's going to need exercise, training, guidance, and an abundance of love. That's what every pup needs! Chips gets along with other dogs, loves to play. Snoopy, just one year old, is one hunk of a hound. He weighs in at about 60 lbs. already. Big-boned, with muscles toned, this is a very special boy. Besides his large size, his other claim to fame is that he is a true black and white basset--we can't find a brown hair on him. Couple that with his shiny coat and super long ears, this fellow is a knock-out. And, he looks very dapper in his top hat, don't you think? The photographer thought he looked to be wearing a tuxedo already--so she completed his outfit with a formal top hat! Of course, for all his subperb looks, this guy has a high-maintenance side for now. Snoopy is still in the chewing--and swallowing--stage of his youth. He needs a family that will supply him with safe, dog appropriate toys and keep him away from remote controls, landscaping rocks, etc. Someone who can cope with his chewing fetish until he outgrows it is what we're looking for. Shiloh is a super cute Beagle/Basset mix, approx. 1.5 years old. Still has an abundance of puppy playfulness. Shiloh is the size of a basset, but has the beagle face. Dolly (Left, ID # 842) and Holly (Right, ID # 843) took their glamorous photo shoot very seriously, as you can see. These 3 year old litter mates, however, are not nearly as serious as they appear. Dolly, the lighter colored of the two, is sweet, playful and affectionate, but she usually lets sister Holly, equally playful and good natured, take the lead in exploring new situations. Both have terrific house manners, which is remarkable since they spent a significant part of their lives without a permanent home, including some time spent living with their owner in his car. After all they've been through, we'd sure hate to break up this terrific pair. Wouldn't this matched set of Bassets be an asset to your home? Okay, you got us. Not a Basset. However, Sparky was saved from the streets by a couple who are one of our most loyal Basset foster families. They could not turn away from this little guy in need. The bassets in the home love Sparky, so are happy to share some screen time to help him get a new home. We think Sparky is part Miniature Pinscher and part Chihuahua. With the curly tail, maybe a little bit o' pug, too? All we know is he's a cuddler, approx. 1 year old, and loves to play fetch with a tennis ball--as his picture indicates. Satchmo is big, squeezable hunk of Basset. The name Satchmo is short for satchel mouth--think Louis Armstrong's nickname! Our Satchmo does have a generous Basset mouth, complete with classic flappy flews. Approx. 8 years old, he loves attention and belly rubs. He walks well on a leash and rides great in the car. He'll sit patiently to wait for his treats, will fetch a ball, and is familiar with using a doggie door. His favorite place is next to you on the couch. Satchmo needs a home with no cats because he feels they are squeak toys to chase and bother. However, we've learned he does need a canine companion in his new home so he won't be lonely when the family is away from the house. He's used to having a couple of other Bassets with him in his foster home. Satchmo has a strong male personality and would do best with a female dog or as a solo hound. Charlie Girl is an approx. 1.5-2 yr old basset who is very small in size (about 25 lbs). A little "pocket hound" who rolls over for a belly rub for everyone she meets. She's a sweetheart with humans--but wants to be the only dog in her home. She's quite the Queen Bee! We don't know how she'd do with cats, as she's not been "cat-tested" as of yet. Buster, is a 9 year old tri color Basset Hound with a gentle temperament. This handsome hound is your typical big, mellow Basset. He enjoys short walks, but mostly likes to stretch out and sleep most of the day. Buster loves treats and his favorite time of day is meal time! Buster is a sweet basset, who loves being around people. He is very low maintenance and could easily spend the day curled up on the floor sleeping on top of your feet. He is the BEST comforter! Buster does better with other mild tempered or senior dogs with low energy - he can turn into a cranky old man when annoyed. He has a minor food aggression that has been controlled, but hasn't fully gone away. Buster is a former LVBR hound who has returned to find a new home. His mom is heartbroken to lose Buster, since she has also lost her job and home. She just wants her hound to find another loving home. Happy Harley is a Basset & Black Lab mix. Wonderful combination. You can't beat having two such wonderful breed personalities rolled into one fantastic dog. Harley came to us from the shelter. We don't know why he was there, although he's such a wonderful boy, we bet he was given up only because his family could no longer care for him. Happy Harley is approx. 9 years old--only his greying muzzle gives his age away. He's got an outgoing personality, always wagging his tail, greets everyone with a smile--he's earned his name! Daisy Jo is a pretty mix of Basset with..... maybe Boxer? She definitely has the Basset long body style with short legs. Daisy Jo (or DJ, as we call her) is smart and agile. She learns quickly when trained with treats as a reward. Approx. 4 yrs old, she would do best as a solo hound, as she has an alpha personality. She might do well with another dog, depending on that dog's personality. DJ has a short, shiny coat and a muscular body. She would be great as a walking companion. Doodles is a real character, and looks and acts nothing like the 10 year old hound we know him to be. He has the classic heart-shaped Basset front legs and is a true lover of people and other animals. He also always seems to be smiling, which is unusual for our traditionally sad-looking breed. Of course, we know bassets are a truly happy, fun-loving breed, and we can't think of a better example than Doodles to prove that's true. Doodles' previous owner went into a nursing home and there were no family members to care for him. My name is Dover and I see with my heart and get around by using my nose. Unfortunately, I've lost my sight to glaucoma--but I've not lost my happy spirit. My tail wags all the time in testiment to my gentle nature. My person could no longer care for me and asked LVBR to find me a new, loving family. I'm doing great in my foster home--learned very quickly how to navigate around the house and not bump into the other dogs! I'm really easy to love and care for. I enjoy all the same things sighted Bassets enjoy. I absolutely LOVE laying in the sun, soaking up the rays. Belly rubs and naps are next in line of favorite activities. At night I follow my foster mom down the hall and jump into the big bed they have for me there. I dream sweet dreams all night, then I'm up in the morning, ready for breakfast. I have a glossy, smooth coat in three colors--black, brown, and white--and I'm speckled with freckles. I've quite a compact body size, so will fit nicely next to you on the couch. I will love you for who you are and for the love you give me. Also, I must brag that I'm an excellent car rider. I won't tell you how to drive, either! I've been told there are many folks who seek out blind dogs to adopt, as they know just how special we are. My name is Flash. If I could talk, I'd tell you about my few years before rescue. But, since I can't speak human you'll just have to consider me a handsome and lovable Mystery Man. I wasn't able to carry my birth certificate around on my travels, so they are guessing I'm about 6 years old. Like they say: you're as old as you feel, and I feel pretty young! Yogi was named after the cartoon character Yogi Bear, because he's such a lovable, huggable, and charming soul. Yogi is quiet and unassuming. He loves to lay on the couch with his head in his foster mom's lap while she watches TV. Yogi is agreeable with everyone around him, even a stranger quickly becomes a friend. He gets along so well with all the other dogs in his foster home. Yogi has such soft fur, it's like velvet. Our vet believes this boy is only about 6 years old. The shelter thought he was older because Yogi has a cloudy affect on his eyes. Although not blind, his vision is probably somewhat blurry. He takes drops in both eyes daily. Yogi takes treats so gently and he's never one to push to get what he wants. He's a true gentleman and, like all dogs, wants to give love and affection.

Copper is a very sweet, quiet, and happy Beagle. He gets along well with all other pets, rides well in the car, and uses a doggie door with ease. He loves to go on walks, and since he's quite the chunky-monkey, he needs regular exercise. He has a great love of food and you can't blame a guy for being a connosieur of excellent canine cuisine! Copper is an wonderful snuggle buddy, approx. 3-4 years of age. He'll bond quickly to someone who shows him the love and attention he deserves. His adoption fee will be $150.

Miss Turtle is looking for a new home to enjoy in her golden years. Approx. 10 years old, this gentle and charming little gal still has a lust for life! Rebecca is a possible Basset--Bulldog mix. She's approx. 2 years old. She's ready to play with another dog, after she gets over her initial shyness. Rebecca needs the focus of exercise and play in order to be happy, so she needs a home where she'll receive an abundance of both. Another dog in the home with her level of energy would help with this. She'd do best in a home with a woman, because she has shown us to be fearful of men. But maybe with a patient and gentle male, she would have the chance of coming around. These are all things that we can work on with her adopter, if guidance is needed. Maude is a spunky broad, approx. 6-7 years old. She's small in size, with a large personality. Maudie gets along with everyone and like all Bassets....craves those belly rubs! Peaches is just like her name states: a real peach of a gal. She is best friends with Rufus and would like to remain with him in a new home. She's quiet, gentle, small, and loving. Peaches is also a brave girl. Last year she had part of her lower jaw removed due to a non-cancerous growth. As she healed, she learned how to eat all over again with her new face. Now she chomps away with the best of the hounds! Her little pink tongue sticks out, as if she's giving you the raspberry! This sweet 8 year old gal never asks for much--just love, belly rubs, and a comfy place to hang out. Lucas is a handsome hound, approx. 8 years old. He will need a structured, patient home. His foster mom & dad have brought Lucas a very long way from the time he came into rescue over a year ago. Lucas was afraid of his own shadow and trusted no one. We don't know what previous owners may have done to him, but it wasn't nice. Now, he's much more confident--but can still get spooked by new surroundings and some people. He needs to be socialized on a regular basis and treated with kind, but firm, love. Through his time in his foster home, he's become very obedient, uses a doggie door, sits and waits for treats and his food bowl. He likes cats, too. He has a tendency to want to rid the home of other dogs, if not kept in firm check. For this reason, he might do best as an only dog, although he's with two other males Bassets in his foster home now. He can be a bit strong-willed, so needs his new person to be the same way! However, after all he's been through in his life, he has great capacity to love and forgive. Lucas is waiting for his own special person to come along.

Kiki is sister to Gabi and they wish to remain together forever. A real Bow-Wow Sisterhood. They have been side-by-side since the beginning: in the womb, through puppyhood, growing and playing alongside one another, faithful companions for over 11 years. They now are in search of a new family to love them and let them be together for the rest of their lives. They have a youthful demeanor, keep each other company, travel well, and sleep together.
