All Bassets are spayed/neutered, Vet checked, and updated on vaccinations prior to adoption.

Male Bassets Needing Homes

Boris is a 3 yr. old male who made his way to the shelter and wasn't reclaimed. But he'll claim you for his very own, given the chance. Boris loves nothing more than jumping in your lap for a long cuddle. Boris is what is known as a "blue" basset, because of his coloring. It's not really blue, but has a grayish tint (like a Weimaraner's coloring). Just look at his silly expression! Looking at that face you'll always find a reason to smile, no matter how bad your day might have been. Boris will be ready to take you for a walk or have you socialize with him at the dog park. Adoption fee is $150. Thank you to Arica at Pet'ographique for these precious photos.

Needs a Foster Home ASAP!!

Blue Moon is a 1 yr. old tri-color boy. His legs are a little longer than the usual low-rider basset--great for those that like their bassets on the tall side. A little height makes for easier jumping into the car, and onto the couch for a quick snuggle with his person. Blue is blessed with a boisterous, friendly personality and loves everyone. He's still young at heart and could use a little refresher course on his house-training. Blue just needs someone with patience, perseverance, and a few old towels! His adoption fee will be $250. Picture coming soon!

Butch Cassidy: Well, you get to decide just what combo this little guy is! Basset? Corgi? Jack Russell? Bull Terrier? Beagle? All of the above?Let's just say that if you adopt little Butch you'll have the most talked about hound in your neighborhood! What a cutie pie. Butch is 4 years old and ready to be loved and giggled over. This has to be our most unusual addition to LVBR since "Tippy", one of our rescues from a couple of years ago. For regular followers of the LVBR website, you'll remember Tippy--the pitbull/doxie mix. Please put in an application to meet Butch Cassidy.

Needs a Foster Home ASAP!!

Bosley is a 1 yr. old, gorgeous tri-male. He looks very serious, but dapper, in this photo (his coloring make him look like he's wearing a tuxedo!)--but inside lives the Basset Clown personality that we all know and love. His previous owners had financial difficulties requiring them to get second jobs. This meant they couldn't give Bosley the time and attention they felt he deserved. Bosley is a happy boy that has many years of love and laughter to give a special person. His adoption fee will be $250. Our thanks to Arica at Pet'ographique for these handsome poses of Bosley.

Needs a Foster Home ASAP!!

Muldoon is a 2 year old red and white boy who came into rescue with MeganWe'd like to send them into an adoptive home together if possible, as they seem to have goo-goo eyes for each other. But we will consider separating them. Both Muldoon & Megan need a foster home(s) ASAP, as they are being boarded at a vet clinic (lonely for them, expensive for LVBR). Please put in an application if interested in fostering or adopting either of these Beautiful Bassets. Their adoption fee will be $150 each.

Bingo is an incredibly cute basset mix, approximately 1 yr. old, who was recently neutered and needs an adoptive home.  Bingo came to us from the shelter, where he was turned in as a stray and never found by his owners.  With his unique coloring and abundance of freckles, we're guessing him to be a basset/cattle dog mix, which should be a very interesting combo for the family lucky enough to have this sweet boy join their family.  Bingo gets along great with other dogs, and we expect him to be equally good with cats and other pets from what we've observed so far.  Please consider Bingo when submitting your online application.  Bingo's adoption fee will be $100, to help cover the costs of his neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

Frankie is a very handsome 1 yr. old basset mix who recently came to us from the local animal shelter.  He had been found as a stray and not reclaimed by his owner.  We were called to help Frankie, even though he is young and considered highly adoptable, because he is a little shy with men at first, and the folks at the shelter did not think the public adoption kennels were the best place for this nice boy. We can tell you, though, somebody has already taught Frankie the joys of being a true lap dog!  Even waiting to check in at the vet, Frankie jumped up and made himself right at home! Our best guess is that Frankie is a basset/shepherd mix--complete with the requisite short basset legs!  He is on the small side, at only 35 lbs, and he has beautiful brown/white markings and very soulful eyes.  We still need to see how he does with other pets, but we're optimistic based on what we've seen so fa r. If you'd like to meet Frankie, please put in an online application.  Frankie's adoption fee will be $100. Thank you to Arica at Pet'ographique Pet Photography Studio in Henderson for these precious pictures of Frankie. Please click on her logo on our home page to learn more Pet'ographique. Have your pet captured on film for lasting memories. You will be supporting a business that helps several local rescues by providing beautiful photographs to showcase adoptable pets on their websites.

Bartlett's my name. One of my rescuers (who shall remain nameless) said maybe I'm so named because I'm shaped like a Bartlett Pear. Very funny. Hey, chubby dogs need love (and homes), too! I'm really a great Basset, if I do say so myself. I'm quiet and enjoy the company of humans and canines alike. LVBR took me into rescue, gave me vaccines and even cleaned my teeth! Who asked for that? Luckily I was able to reach the computer with my paws so that I could type out this S.O.S.---Please Adopt or Foster Me! If you like my round body and sweet face, please put in the application and tell them you want me--Bartlett. My adoption fee is $150, and I'm well worth the price! I'll be forever grateful and give you hound kisses forever--just take me home. Okay, now what do I do?--oh, yeah, hit the "send" button on the computer and........

Roscoe Hamilton is a fluffy, full-figured basset. He has a wonderful, upbeat personality. He's ready to waddle into a new, loving home. We cannot say enough fabulous things about this great dog. He is SO personable! He greets everyone like they're an old friend, he's gentle, and always ready for a belly rub. He's approx. 3 years old, with a winning smile and a bodacious body. His foster home states that he's awesome, pleasant, nice, quiet, happy, gets along with cats, rides well in the car, excellent on walks, playful Basset! He also enjoys snoozes on the couch and TV time with his person. Roscoe has a bit of dry-eye and needs a quick couple of drops in each eye of daily--meds will be about $10 per month if you adopt this scrumptious hound dog. And he's well worth it! Please put in the application if you'd like to meet Roscoe. His adoption fee is $150.
Thurston Howl doesn't howl, he's just named after the character Thurston Howell III from the TV show Gilligan's Island. Just our little attempt at humor. And we must keep a sense of humor here at LVBR in order to continue doing rescue! Thurston's a wonderfully behaved basset who enjoys the company of everyone. He just moseys along curious about everything, but not too nosy. He seems to particularly enjoy being with the pre-teens and teens in his foster home. Hangs out with them while they work on the computer and talk on the phone. Thurston is excellent on the leash, rides well in the car, and really enjoys socializing at the dog park. Thurston is approx. 8 years young--and still has many years to give love and be loved. If you enjoy a sedate life and need a couch hound to share your time with, Thurston's your man. Please consider an older hound, they have so much love and gratitude to share. His adoption fee will be $100.

Smokey is a big, handsome, tri-color boy, 3 years old. He gets along with other dogs and with cats. When he wants to play he bounces around, kicking up his short little legs. He loves dog toys and is crate trained. Smokey has skin allergies, triggered by grasses and other unknown factors. He's on an allergy formula dog food (duck and potato). He has routine baths with a special shampoo (Malaseb formula) to help keep his skin feeling better. He's a happy, playful dog, very strong and muscular. Please put in the application for Smokey if you'd like to meet him--and email us if you have any questions about his allergy needs. Update for Smokey 12/16/2007: Smokey has had allergy testing done and is now on a regimen of shots to help desensitize his allergies. We are hoping that this course of action, which will take almost 4 months, will go a long way to making him more comfortable--and help make him more adoptable, too. We'll know more in a few months as to how his treatments are working. If you would like to consider Smokey for adoption you may still put in the application. We'll keep everyone posted on his progress. Wish Smokey good luck! P.S. We wish to thank Smokey's foster mom, Darlene Cartier, for her love and care of Smokey.

Adoption Pending!  Hooter is a 6 year old boy who needs someone special to love him. Hooter is blind. He was apparently born this way--he's not in pain and will not require any meds or surgery. He just needs love and a guiding hand. As we've written before---blind dogs don't require much extra--REALLY! The only thing they cannot deal with is an inground pool, that is one danger they couldn't avoid. And unlike our other past blind bassets (Buttercup and Porter), this guy has never known anything but a dark world, so he's quite adept at getting around. Sightless dogs quickly learn the "lay of the land" and within days rarely bump into anything. Hooter needs a foster home while he waits for his forever home. If anyone has any questions about living with a blind dog please don't hesitate to ask us. Darlene, who has adopted both Buttercup and Porter, will be glad to help you with any concerns or fears you might have. She would take this guy in a heartbeat, but she's moving out of state and the BUV (Basset Utility Vehicle) is already crammed with hounds moving across the country. Please consider helping Hooter. Fill out the online application, specify Hooter, and then ask any questions on the Additional info part of the application. Or, ask that someone call you. Blind dogs see with their hearts.

Adoption Pending! Charlie, or Choo Choo as our vet office nicknamed him, is a gorgeous dark tri-colored boy with lots of cute freckles or spots.  He is quite the charmer, approx. 6 yrs. young, and appears to get along great with people and other pets.  We don't know too much about Charlie yet, as he came to us from the local shelter and he's just settling in to his foster home, but we will update the website soon with all of his wonderful basset attributes.  And, in the meantime, if you'd like to meet Charlie and see this charming boy in action, please put in an online application.  Charlie's adoption fee will be $150.

Adoption Pending! Jake: For those who wonder how we come up with names for new dogs who join us from the shelter, here's an example of how random it is!  Our new boy, Jake, is a gorgeous 2-3 yr. old tri-colored male who could be the identical twin of another homeless LVBR hound, Toby Maguire.  So, we thought what other stars look like or remind us of Toby Maguire?  The first one who came to mind was Jake Gyllenhaal, and voila!  Did we mention Jake is absolutely gorgeous?  He was scheduled to be neutered earlier this week, but he has a slight case of kennel cough that is being treated with antibiotics and will need a few weeks to recover.  He is okay to go to a home with well vaccinated dogs while he recovers, but, if you'd rather wait, we will still need a foster or adoptive home as soon as he is neutered, so please put in your online application now. Jake's adoption fee will be $150.

Adoption Pending! Mugs

Adoption Pending! Chance: Our newest puppy, Chance, was another recent rescue from a puppy mill in Missouri.  He is a beautiful, 2-3 mos. old tri-colored male who was severely dehydrated and appeared to be very ill when LVBR was called to pick him up from a transport of puppy mill rescues on their way to California.  It turns out, though, that some water and good food has made all the difference, and Chance is expected to make a full recovery.  He will need to be neutered in a few months, but he needs a home now that understands all that a basset puppy entails, so he can finally enjoy the stability and love he needs and deserves.  Chance's adoption fee will be $250, with the cost of neutering included when he reaches the appropriate age.
